First Steps to Cutting Plastic

Madison Feinstein Lifestyle Jul 29, 2020

There are so many changes that you can easily make in your everyday life to become more sustainable. Something as small as no longer using plastic cups at home can make a difference. One of the easiest places to make the biggest impact is in the bathroom. Some of these might seem extreme if you are first starting to make the change, but over time you will see that the truly extreme thing is how much plastic we utilize in the bathroom.

A good start is switching from a plastic toothbrush and hairbrush to bamboo ones. You can also ditch the plastic bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and face wash and start using bars. They look like regular bars of soap but are made with the ingredients for shampoo and conditioner. You can also use the body bar to shave. The two more extreme changes are lotion and deodorant. There are bars for each of these that work very well, possibly better than what comes in plastic. For deodorant, there is also a cream option that comes in a glass jar. Do the research and see what works best for you and what will make the biggest positive impact on the environment!
